Bistro 201 is a place that every Lahori has heard of, because of its amazing rooftop dining and steaks. It is located on Mall Road opposite Gloria Jeans on top floors of JS Bank building.People can enjoy the dining according to the weather and their moods as choice of indoor and outdoor dining is available.
You would find a vast variety of Continental, Chinese and special variety of Pakistani food here. However, Bistro is known for its steaks, so that is what Ottutu tried for this review.We chose Cheese Sticks, French Onion Steak and Chicken Spinoccoli Pasta. Before the main course, they served complimentary lays chips in a bowl, crackers would have been better though.
Cheese Sticks
Cheese Sticks were coated with bread crumbs and deep fried. They were a little cold and a little tasteless for cheese sticks and cold cheese doesn’t really taste good at all.The quality and quantity of this appetizer hinged towards being bad at price of PKR 415.
French Onion Steak
The steak was topped with fried onions and cheese and served with french fries and vegetables. It was mildly-spiced, well-cooked and fire grilled yet soft and tender. The melted cheese on top made a perfect combination with mild spices and fried onions. It tasted more delicious than it looked and satisfied appetite for a price of PKR 895.
Chicken Spinoccoli Pasta
This pasta with chicken, home-made pesto sauce and cheese was all perfect in taste and serving.It was saucy, mildly-spiced and well-cooked.The menu description said it will include mushrooms,olives and tomatoes but we couldn’t find those in the serving, so that is a one down for Bistro. The cost of the dish was PKR 625.
Coming to the service,there is a room for improvement as it was quite slow and the staff wasn’t very cooperative.
The Final Verdict
It is a must visit place especially in foggy or sunny (depending on your choice) winter days to enjoy good rooftop view, peaceful environment and good food with expenditure of around PKR 1000/person.
