Fair Attempt at Chinese Cuisine
House of Chinese has recently opened up next to Dessert Desire on MM Alam road and has emerged as one of the most talked about Chinese restaurants of Lahore. The name defines their menu, purely Chinese.
The place is huge, with indoor and outdoor sitting options. Unlike most of the Chinese spots they have maintained a very artistic, ethnic and simple interior. It’s not congested or boring, instead, just comfy and elegant.

.
The menu had Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Fish n Prawns, Noodles and Rice. We tried their Chef special soup, Crispy Beef, Sweet N Sour Chicken, Chowmein and Szechuan chicken. The drinks variety was limited and we tried Mint Margarita.
Chef Special Soup
Perfect for those who hate Hot N Sour but want a spicy soup. This one was spicy, thick, filling but not like an ordinary soup. The prawns and spices gave this soup a creamy and peppery taste. For Rs. 775, this soup is perfect for prawn and hot spice lovers.
Egg Fried Rice
These rice were the best part for their freshness and taste, you wouldn’t find these kind of well-cooked fresh egg fried rice anywhere else.
Price per serving: Rs. 495
Chowmein
This chowmein was definitely according to its description on menu card, Chinese noodles with vegetables and chicken and no spices. The dish looked colorless and tasted bland too except that it had a good smokey hint in it. The noodles used were extra soft and different. The taste was all together different than major Chinese spots of Lahore and is perfect for somebody looking for chowmein without oil and spices.
Per Serving Cost: Rs. 595
Crispy Beef
This was one of the most tasteful dishes we tried, beef wasn’t crispy to perfection but was well-cooked. The glaze/sauce over beef chunks had a sweet spicy touch, simple but delicious. One family serving would cost you Rs. 1045.
Sweet N Sour Chicken
This dish was disappointing, with sweet pineapple-filled gravy and hard to bite chicken strips. It lacked crisp and necessary sour touch.
Price per serving: Rs. 795
Szechuan Chicken
Like a good szechuan chicken, this one was spicy and tasteful and perfectly filling. The chicken chunks, spicy gravy and vegetables made this a good choice to try at House of Chinese.
Price per serving: Rs. 795
Mint Margarita
Their margarita was different, light, refreshing and tasted original.
Price per serving: Rs. 295
The service at this place was great, orders were served on time and staff was friendly too. All servings were family-sized and were enough for 3-4 people.
Final Verdict
House Of Chinese offers authentic Chinese cuisine with spacious and comfy interior. Their taste wasn’t their best thing but you need to try this place for their huge menu variety. A complete meal at House of Chinese would cost you around Rs 500-800 considering all servings are family size.
