West to East

There are a lot of restaurants in Lahore which offer varied cuisines and local cuisines, fusion of different cuisines or just local cuisines.Pantry, located in Emporium Mall, on other hand focuses on western food primarily and It seems like the entire concept is inspired from English/European restaurants. Even the interior is classic black and white with raw art-studio look giving it a very distinctive vibe.

Their menu ranges from Salads, soups, Italian cuisines to Chinese food which is a downside for varied foodies of Lahore that they could have attracted. For now the menu would attract a specific lot of customers with minimal chances for its expansion of consumers. They have a small salad bar presenting available salads where you can see and choose your salad.Team Ottutu ordered Quinoa Salad, Mongolian Chicken, Grilled-Chicken Jalapeno Pizza,Double Cream Carrot Cake and Peach Iced Tea.

Quinoa Salad

We tried their Quinoa Salad and If you are diet and calorie conscious person, this Quinoa Salad could be a starter for a three-course meal or just a one-dish lunch choice. The salad comprised of Quinoa, Corn, Cherry Tomatoes, Red Beans and Chicken strips seasoned with salt, pepper and lemon juice. It was a high-in-fibre item but a little bland for Lahori taste-buds for a price of PKR 210.

 Mongolian Chicken

This dish is the usual white rice with chicken strips and vegetable toppings.Chicken strips, Capsicum,Cabbage,Carrots and Onions had been sauteed together and seasoned with salt. The sauce in which the vegetables and chicken had been cooked had strong aroma of barbecue and even tasted of that. For a cost of PKR 499, this item was about average in terms of quantity, quality and taste.

Grilled Chicken Jalapeno Pizza

Before describing the taste of Pizza, one thing that needs to be said is that it was not very well-presented.Having a home-cooked look is different than carelessly prepared item.Nevertheless, it had a very distinctive taste and was light on stomach in terms of its ingredients.Sun-dried tomatoes gave it a very a nice flavour along with ample amount of cheese.Generally, it was kind of bland and relied on Mushrooms, Jalapenos, Sun-dried tomatoes and Mint for its taste.Conclusively, a just above average item for a cost of PKR 699.

Peach-Iced Tea

You can say that this was just another artificially-flavoured iced-tea which tasted more like a juice instead of tea.The tea is expected to have a strong flavour like the one served in Zucchini restaurant. For a price of PKR 217, this peach tea was not good enough.

Double  Carrot Cake

Carrot cake was served as a complementary item to Team Ottutu to try out, as it is known to be their best dessert item. The most noticeable feature of this cake slice was the vanilla-butter icing which was delicious in taste and appropriately fluffy to touch-meaning it was well-beaten and made with absolute precision.Coming to the sponge, it was soft and crumbly with pieces of Carrots, Pineapples and Pistachios in every bite. The good thing about fruits and nuts was that they were neither too many nor too less, but well-balanced with the sponge. For a price of PKR 349, this item is definitely worth every in terms of slice size and taste.
